Cissus discolor (Rex begonia vine, tapestry vine) is one of the most beautiful foliage plants.  It has 3–6" heart-shaped leaves with a dark center that radiate out along the veins to create sliver chevrons. The back side of the leaf is a dark burgundy. Cissus discolor can be just as happy growing in a hanging basket or up a trellis. It requires bright, indirect light and thrives if you can put it outside in the summer. Cissus discolor grows slower early in the growing season and then explodes into luxurious, riotous growth with the summer heat. Cissus discolor is commonly called the Rex begonia vine but is completely unrelated to begonias and more closely related to grape vines.
