Corokia cotoneaster is an small shrub with very small leaves, odd zigzag branches and small yellow flowers.  Corokia cotoneaster is a native to New Zealand and tolerates fairly dry sites and performs best in well drained sun.  We use this really cool looking plant in mixed planters and have not yet tried in our gardens here in North Carolina.  Corokia cotoneaster is a plant you see much more often in the PNW but it has done remarkable well here in NC as a container plant (bring inside during winter).  We have not yet tried this outside in our gardens, but have a few local customers that say they have grown in outside for a few years now.  Not grown for its leaves or its small yellow flowers, but for its amazing architectural branching pattern.
