RARE!!!

Exbucklandia tokinensis seedlings of 'Kunming Champion' are fantastic, evergreen trees related to Witchhazels. The leaves on E. tokienense look similar to sweat gum leaves, but are bigger, GLOSSY bright green AND evergreen! In time, this will become a fairly large tree. There is a long story behind these seedlingsand if you have time, google the name and read Tony Avent's information on 'Kunming Champion'. To briefly summarize - Tony Avent was allowed to collect a few seeds of Exbucklandia tokinensis and only 1 plant came up. Tony planted in outside in 1999 and we all had the expectations of it dying from cold weather almost immediately. It should be a zone 9 plant in theory. Guess you can figure out the rest of that story - it survived 9 degrees F and has become a large tree. We rooted a few cuttings from 'Kunmind Champion' several years ago and had them growing in big pots in the greenhouse. One day, Jason, our research guy, excitedly told me that they had produced seeds! He grew this on and are now available for you to try. Very limited numbers and we hope they are as hardy as their parent. A super rare tree that very likely none of your gardening friends will be able to identify.

HARDINESS: 7b?-9

EXPOSURE: part shade to sun

SIZE: 40'+

SHIPPING SIZE: 1/2 gallon container. 24-30" plant.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0264/8516/2062/files/IMG_8927_c9afc541-83af-4cf3-9356-dda8cfac994d.jpg?v=1790876355
