Acer palmatum 'Kinran' forms a  small tree with beautiful foliage of lacy, deeply divided, long, pointed leaves. They emerge  with a rich, bronzy-red in spring with prominent bright yellow-green mid-veins. The foliage turns green with a pink cast in summer and as the fall sets on they turn to a bright gold with crimson highlights. Famed for its glorious fall color, ‘Kinran’ means ‘woven with gold threads’, a perfect description of its delicate foliage. This maple tree features an upright, spreading habit and adapts well to container or bonsai use.
