Acer palmatum 'Iijima Sunago' is a classic upright Japanese maple that dates back to  the 1880's in Japan. 'Iijima sunago' emerge in the spring with pink-red leaves that just make you stop and say wow. As the summer heat kicks in the leaves mature to a brick red color with an emerald green around the midvein. In the fall the leaves turn a  bright yellow infused with orange as the weather starts to cool. Expect 'Iijima sunago' to reach 10-12 ft high in 10 years.
