Arundo donax 'Peppermint' is a large, clumping grass with green and white striped leaves. Arundo donax 'Peppermint' is a stunning, LARGE ornamental grass that makes an incredibly bold statement in the garden. Give this beauty some room - it gets BIG - and is a very slowly running (fastly clumping?) grass that can easily reach 15-20' to the top of its bloom spike (early Autumn). Arundo donax 'Peppermint' starts out in the spring with new growth that is nearly white and then becomes green and white striped. Unlike the old cultivar 'Variegata', 'Peppermint' holds this stunning color throughout the growing season. All Arundo donax perform best in rich, moist soil but will tolerate poorer conditions. Arundo donax 'Peppermint' grows well in areas that periodically flood (and then drain faily quickly). 'Peppermint' will overwinter above ground stems if temperatures stay in the upper teens or warmer, but can become a big scruffy looking if not pruned back in late winter (all the way to the ground).
