Aucuba japonica 'Suruga Benten'

Aucuba japonica 'Suruga Benten' (gold dust plant, Japanese laurel, spotted laurel) is an evergreen shrub with yellow leaves with green splotches.  Aucuba japonica 'Suruga Benten' produces bright new foliage that makes it stand out from other Aucuba cultivars.  Aucuba japonica 'Suruga Benten' can be used to brighten up otherwise dark areas in the garden and is excellent in mass plantings, foundation plantings on the north side of your house, or as a specimen.  Aucuba japonica 'Suruga Benten' is a male clone and will pollinate any nearby female aucuba plants so they can produce their showy red (some cultivars are white) berries.  Aucubas are great plants that will thrive in heavy shade.
