Daphne odora

Daphne odora is an evergreen shrub with green leaves and fragrant pink flowers.  Daphne odora is a MUST HAVE plant for every garden that has a warm climate.  Daphne odora is a beautiful evergreen shrub with glossy green leaves but the main reason to grow this great plant is for its INTENSELY fragrant pink flowers in the spring.  Daphne odora is great as a specimen and even better  in mass or mixed plantings.  Daphne odora unfortunately tends to be relatively short lived but absolutely worth the effort.  The biggest enemy of Daphne odora is water - dry sites are best.  Plant near the base of a large tree that will pull all the water out of the soil.  Irrigated areas are lethal - its difficult to find a spot that isn't too dry!  Daphne odora grows best  in bright to nearly sunny locations but will tolerate shadier areas that are dry.
