Hydrangea serrata 'Shirofuji'
Hydrangea serrata 'Shirofuji'
Hydrangea serrata 'Shirofuji' (mountain hydrangea) is a delightful dwarf deciduous shrub with small green leaves and clusters of double, white flowers in the summer. We've been slowly building stock on this fantastic new plant from Japan for the past few years and our largest plant is still barely 12"x12" at 3 years old! Hydrangea serrata 'Shirofuji' is one of the most heavily blooming hydrangeas I've ever seen. We often have 4-5" tall and wide plants totally covered in flowers! We grow a wide range of hydrangeas and in general I prefer Hydrangea serrata cultivars but 'Shirofuji' stands out from all the others. It is certainly the smallest growing hydrangea we have in our collection but its flowering ability is absolutely stunning! My favorite hydrangea in our collection! Due to its tiny size, probably best in mass plantings, but would be awesome in the shaded rock garden as a specimen if planted toward the front of the border. Very limited numbers this year but hope to have a good crop for fall 2024.
