Loropetalum chinensis 'Tokyo Weeping'

Loropetalum chinensis 'Tokyo Weeping' is an unusual evergreen member of the witch hazel family with the typical green leaves and white frilly flowers of the species but a strongly pendulous growth habit.  As a young plant, Loropetalum chinensis 'Tokyo Weeping' is basically a ground cover unless staked to gain some height.  Loropetalum chinensis 'Tokyo Weeping' was found in Tokyo, Japan by plantsman Don Shadow and introduced in the the USA.  Even though Loropetalum chinensis 'Tokyo Weeping' has been around awhile, it is very rarely ever seen in cultivation.  Loropetalum chinensis 'Tokyo Weeping' would be best as a large, weeping specimen but could be used in mass to hide a pesky neighbor from view.
