Osmanthus fragrans 'Apricot Echo'

Osmanthus fragrans 'Apricot Echo' (sweet olive, tea olive, fragrant olive, sweet osmanthus) is a large evergreen shrub with extremely fragrant apricot-colored flowers in the spring and throughout the growing season, with leaves that flush purple and fade to green. Osmanthus fragrans 'Apricot Echo' is a fast-growing evergreen shrub that makes a great background plant and is fantastic as a pruned hedge - it is more open growing than many other cultivars, so yearly pruning will produce a more compact plant.  It has the unusual ability to not only bloom on old wood (like most Osmanthus) but also on new growth.  It's amazing to see flower buds being produced immediately on new grow.  Osmanthus fragrans 'Apricot Echo' is not a heavy bloomer at any given time, but for us in the greenhouse, it blooms year-round.  Plant it where its intoxicating fragrance can be appreciated.
