Acer floridanum

Acer floridanum (Florida Sugar maple) is a deep south native that looks very much like the sugar maples (Acer saccharum) of the north but is adapted to much hotter climates.  These plants are seedlings from a selection our dear friend John Tobe made in central florida of a tree that had great fall color (oranges) in an area that does not have fall color due to heat.  Very cool plants that provide color in climates that are too hot for most other maples to show color.
