Acer palmatum 'Alpine Sunrise' is a dwarf red Japanese maple that originated as witches broom mutation. 'Alpine Sunrise' leaves emerge in the spring a bright cherry red. As the summer proceeds the foliage turns a darker maroon. Fall color on 'Alpine Sunrise' is a bright scarlet red. 'Alpine Sunrise' has a dense shrubby habit but  should reach 4-5 ft in height by 4-5 ft in wide in 10 years.
