Acer palmatum 'Englishtown' in the spring emerges with leaves that are a bright red which turn to a maroon red as they mature. As the summer heat rolls in the leaves turn a green red color. Though out the summer "Englishtown' continues to leaf out a brilliant red new growth that adds to it's summer interest. In the fall 'Englishtown' leaves turn a bright scarlet red. Acer palmatum 'Englishtown' is a dwarf red Japanese maple with leaves that tend to be smaller than a typical red Japanese maple. Expect 'Englishtown' to reach 3 to 4ft tall. This smaller growth habit makes it a fantastic addition to a small area in your garden or a beautiful container plant. 'Englishtown' was found by Stephen Kristoff in Englishtown, NJ, as a dwarf mutation.
