Acer palmatum 'Fjelheim'

Acer palmatum 'Fjelheim' is a dwarf coral bark Japanese maple that has green leaves in spring and summer followed by yellow fall color followed by RED bark in the winter.  'Fjelheim' was found as a witch's broom on 'Sango Kaku' and is fairly slow growing and produces as small shrub in our garden.  I think the winter bark color is vastly superior to it's parent, 'Sango Kaku'  If you want stunning red stems on a compact plant in  your garden during the winter, 'Fjelhiem' is the plant you NEED!
