Acer palmatum ‘Hiryu’ is a magnificent upright Japanese maple with narrow tipped leaves. In the spring 'Hiryu' leaves emerge a lime green color that mature to a bright green color. In the fall, the leaves take on a fierce and fiery red, orange and yellow color. Due to 'Hiryu' twisted palmate leaves they tremble and shake gently in the breeze adding the idea they look something like a flying dragon.
