Acer palmatum 'Koto Ito Komachi' is a stunning, ultra narrow leave Japanese maple with leaves that are almost string-like. My dear friend J. D. Vertrees found this many years ago and on my first visit to his garden in Oregon in the ealy 1980, I asked J. D. to show me the plant. He laughed and said "you are almost standing on it" I looked down at the mulched area and saw nothing. I was puzzled but J. D. bent down and pointed to the nearly invisible leaves - so small that I truly could not see them until he pointed them out! Unfortunately many people think this is the same this as the fantastic 'Koto No Ito' - it is NOT! Koto Ito Komachi has much narrower foliage and is much rarer and sadly often sold as the wrong plant. Fall color is yellow and orange. Only 1 available this year.
