Acer palmatum 'Lemon Chiffon' leaves emerge in the spring a electric yellow. Making 'Lemon Chiffon' really standout, as it's new growth is brightest yellow of any of the Lace leaves out there. As summer starts to crank of the heat the leaves will start to turn a nice chartreuse green. Then when you start to thing how can this Japanese maple get any better, you get a secondary flush that emerges that bright yellow that now really pops because its over laying that chartreuse green. This incredible color with the spreading cascading growth allows Acer palmatum 'Lemon Chiffon' to really stand out in a garden setting. As the fall starts to cool 'Lemon Chiffon leaves will start to turn a bright yellow that then turns a screaming orange with red on the outer most branches. Wow, just writing this now makes me want to add another to my garden! 

In order to get the full effect of 'Lemon Chiffon' Color display, it must be giving protection from the hot afternoon sun. If planted in a place where 'Lemon Chiffon' is exposed to the full hot afternoon sun, its new growth may be more of an orange yellow. Which honestly which is still amazingly beautiful, but it's not as unique as this tree can be. If given this protection, the light lemon-yellow coloration of 'Lemon Chiffon' will hold on for an extended amount of time. You should expect Acer palmatum 'Lemon Chiffon' to reach 3 ft high by 5 ft wide in 10 years.
