Acer palmatum 'Octopus' leaves emerge in the spring a scarlet red. As the leaves mature to a dark red that will turn green by late summer in the south. In the Fall the leaves of 'Octopus' turn a bright fiery red. 'Octopus' is a red laceleaf Japanese maple with  a strong weeping growth habit. Expect 'Octopus' to reach 4 to 5 ft high by 5-6 ft wide in 10 years.
