Introduced by Piet Vergeldt, this maple is crazy awesome! The name "Peve" comes from a play on his name which Piet uses for many of his introductions. 'Peve Starfish' forms a mid-sized dwarf reaching 6-8 ft in 20 years. Its small and unique leaves that curl under give the appearance of a "starfish" simply floating in the air.
Peve Starfish leaves emerge as a bright red in the early spring maturing to a deep dark red. As new growth flushes during the summer it emerges bright red. In the fall, 'Peve Starfish' will grab attention to your landscape by turning to a bright crimson red. It truly is a unique Japanese maple for the home gardener.
