Acer palmatum 'Ryu Sei' is one of the most pendulous Japanese maple available today. The most striking thing about 'Ryu Sei' is that the leaves are fully palmate and star shaped where as all other cascading varieties having dissected leaves. For use in the landscape 'Ryu sei' is normally staked at certain height then as it grows to the ground is allowed to make a flowing mound. In the fall the leaves of 'Ryu Sei' turn to a gold and orange color. Height of 'Ryu Sei' Japanese maples will depend on how high its staked with its width being around 10ft. Acer palmatum 'Ryu Sei' is tolerant of full sun.
