Acer palmatum 'Ryugu' has a dense, dwarf growth habit growing to 4-6 ft in height. 'Ryugu' is a true dwarf that grows 3-4 inches per year. The leaves of 'Ryugu' emerge in the spring pink with white flecking throughout the tiny leaves.  The variegation on 'Ryugu' appears to be very stable. Because of its small growth habit 'Ryugu' makes a great Japanese maple for container culture, small landscapes, and rock gardens.
