Acer palmatum 'Sir Happy' is an ultra dwarf, green Japanese maple with tiny, crinkled leaves.  If you want tiny, this is the plant for you!  Acer palmatum 'Sir Happy' is certainly in contention for being the most dwarf Japanese maple (I've seen a couple others that are maybe smaller???).  The plant pictured is my 4 year old stock plant.  It is about the size of an orange!  It is nearly impossible to get scion wood for grafting from this plant due its EXTREMELY slow growth rate!  I managed tp graft 2 plants this year and might now have more for a few years.  This is a very rare plant and probably should not be planted in the ground unless you have a very protected garden with other small plants.  It is so tiny, it would easily get crushed.  This is a plant for the truly obsessed Japanese maple collector!
