Acer shirasawanum 'Johin' leaves emerge in the early spring orange-red to purple-red over a lime green background. 'Johin' leaves contain lime-green veins that make great contrast within the foliage. As leaves of 'Johin' mature they turn to a solid green in the early summer. As the fall temperature cool, the leaves of 'Johin' will turn to orange to red. Expect Japanese maple 'Johin' to reach 6-7 ft high by 4-5 ft wide in 10 years.
