Astilbe thunbergii 'Chocolate Shogun'

Astilbe thunbergii 'Chocolate Shogun' is an herbaceous perennial with purple foliage and spikes of small pinkish white flowers.  Astilbe thunbergii 'Chocolate Shogun' is a stunning, purple foliaged herbaceous perennial with tall spikes of pinkish white flowers starting in late spring.  Astilbe thunbergii 'Chocolate Shogun' performs best in uniformly moist soils in bright shade to sun and is best in mass plantings where its beautiful foliage can be seen to best advantage but is effective as a specimen where a splash of purple is needed.
