Aucuba japonica 'Hosoba Hoshifu' (gold dust plant, Japanese laurel, spotted laurel)  is an evergreen shrub with narrow foliage brightly splotched with yellow dots.  Aucuba japonica 'Hosoba Hoshifu' is a fairly compact plant that looks great in mass planting or as a specimen.  Aucuba japonica 'Hosoba Hoshifu' is a female that will produce large red fruits if a male Aucuba is nearby.  The berries will last throughout the winter, making a nice contrast against the yellow/green foliage. Aucubas are great plants that will thrive in heavy shade.
