Aucuba japonica 'Natsu No Kumo' (gold dust plant, Japanese laurel, spotted laurel)  is a RARE and unique broadleaf evergreen with green serrated leaves that puts on a stunning show in spring as its new growth emerges creamy white, unlike any other Aucuba we have seen.  The whitish foliage will slowly fade to green as the leaves mature.  Aucuba japonica 'Natsu No Kumo' is reportedly a female that will produce red berries if a male is nearby, but even without berries, it's worth growing for the spectacular spring foliage.  Aucubas are great plants that will thrive in heavy shade.  Thanks to Mike Chelednik and Bill Pinkham for their photos of mature plants.
