Betula nigra 'Studetec'

Betula nigra 'Studetec' is a compact selection of our native river birch and has excellent exfoliating bark, and compact growth habit - making it an excellent choice for smaller gardens.  'Studetec' appears to be slightly larger and more spreading the 'Little King' In time, it does get fairly large (it isn't a true dwarf, but much more compact than the species) so give it a little room to grow.  As with all river birch, 'Studetec' will tolerate fairly wet soils but is fine in drier sites (not DRY sites).  'Studetec' has the typically yellow fall color as the species.
