Callicarpa dichotoma 'Shiji Murasaki' (Japanese Form) (purple beautyberry) is a small growing deciduous shrub with stunning green leaves heavily mottled white with purplish pink veins and petioles and a few lavender flowers that rarely form fruit. We were very excited to receive this stunning new form of Callicarpa from Japan under the name 'Shiji Murasaki'.  We are keeping the name Callicarpa dichotoma 'Shiji Murasaki' and  adding (Japanese Form) to distinguish it from the normal form - we will likely give it a cultivar name in the future since it is totally different than 'Shiji Murasaki'.  Callicarpa dichotoma 'Shiji Murasaki (Japanese Form) makes a bold statement in a shaded woodland garden and is great in mass plantings or as a specimen.  Callicarpa dichotoma 'Shiji Murasaki'(Japanese Form) can be pruned back nearly to the ground in late winter to keep it smaller (and brighter colors).  Callicarpa dichotoma 'Shiji Murasaki' (Japanese Form) is VERY RARE and one of most colorful plants we grow and a must have for variegated plant collectors.
