Camellia x 'Coral Castle' is an interesting non-retic hybrid ( C. japonica x C. amplexicaulis) from the recently shuttered Nuccio's Nurseries in Altadena, California.  Blooms are Medium in size, semi-double, and slightly cupped upward. The plant itself is extremely vigorous and looks to have an upright, spreading growth habit.  We haven't yet planted it outside, so can't comment on hardiness (typical C. amplexicaulis is not cold-hardy in NC), but Tom Nuccio (back when I ordered it) thought it might be okay considering the C. japonica blood.

  • HARDINESS: 8?-9
  • EXPOSURE: part shade to sun
  • SIZE:   6-8'
  • SHIPPING SIZE: 1/2 gallon container.   17-23" plant.
