Camellia japonica 'Thieve's Delight' is an evergreen shrub dark green leaves, an extremely narrow growth habit and pale pink with darker pink strips, formal double, flowers. Camellia japonica 'Thieve's Delight' is a phenomenal, RARE, Camellia with an EXTREMELY narrow growth habit (see photo) and is by far the most fastigiate Camellia I've ever seen! Camellia japonica 'Thieve's Delight' has small, formal double, pale pink with darker strips, flowers. I don't have the full story behind the unusual name of this amazing Camellia, but was told that years ago one of the presidents of the Camellia Society was hosting a tour in his yard and had this extremely narrow growing Camellia japonica seedling growing in his yard. To the president's surprise, he found one of the guests stealing cuttings from this plant - and the name 'Thieve's Delight' was born! Camellia japonica 'Thieve's Delight' would be STUNNING as a very narrow hedge or in a group planting where extreme verticality is needed and would be wonderful as a specimen as well. My 10-15 year old plant in the garden is about 12' tall and less than 30" wide and has never been pruned. Truly exceptional and very RARE. If you are interested in purchasing several to make a hedge, please contact me and we can see if we can offer a bulk discount.
