Camellia phellocarpa EXTREMELY RARE!

Camellia phellocarpa is a big mystery to us.  The late Dr. Clifford Parks gave me cuttings of this beautiful species but there is no record of it existing.  The growth habit is compact and low growing with  pure white flowers (it looks more like a Gardenia than a Camellia).  We have sent pictures out to species experts around the World and the best we get back is "it sort of looks like ...".  No one has given us a name that looks like what we have.  We suspect it may be a new species Dr. Clifford Parks found but never published.  Whatever it is, it makes a beautiful landscape plants with its extremely dark green leaves and pure white flowers and very large stamen mass.  Stunning!  Thanks to Mike Chelednik for use of his photos.
