Camellia x 'Japanese Fantasy'

Camellia x 'Japanese' is a complex hybrid from Cliff Parks selected for its prolific late winter bloom.  Great landscape camellia.  Thanks to Mike Chelednik for use of his photos.

"A miniature, white in center shading to pink at tip of petals, single, C. hybrid (C. japonica) 'Berenice Boddy' x [C. saluenensis x C. rosaeflora), early, originated by Clifford R. Parks and propagated by Camellia Forest Nursery, Chapel Hill, NC. Commercially introduced in 1985.  Average size flower is 3" wide and I 1/2" deep with 5 petals, yellow anthers, and cream filaments. Flowers are produced in such profusion that the bush almost resembles the Japanese cherry in bloom. Plant growth is upright, dense, open, and rapid in rate with dark green leaves measuring 3" long and I 1/2" wide."
