Camellia x "Weeping Yellow" is a low growing evergreen shrub with light green leaves and pale yellow flowers. Camellia x "Weeping Yellow" was created by the late Dr. Clifford Parks many years ago as part of his efforts to produce a hardy, yellow flowered
. I don't remember the exact parentage of this plant but it is Camellia japonica x a yellow flowered species. Cliff gave me cuttings of this plant maybe 15 years ago and he never named it since it is not cold hardy. We have grown it for many years and have certainly found it intriguing due to its nearly flat, ground cover growth habit it multitudes of pale, semi double, pendulous yellow flowers with the softest blush of pink. Without staking, I doubt this plant will ever get 1 foot tall and would be interesting planted on a ledge or top of a wall where it could cascade over. We haven't yet tried planting one outside, but suspect it needs to be in a frost free area or grown in a greenhouse or conservatory. We are not naming this plant but will refer to it as "Weeping Yellow" - we have very limited supply and may not keep it in production since a flat growing stock plant that stays in the greenhouse eats up a lot of space. RARE and totally different than any other Camellia we've ever seen. Thanks to Mike Chelednik for use of his photos.
