Carpinus japonica 'Silver Lace' RARE

Carpinus japonica 'Silver Lace' is a small, shrubby deciduous the amazing fringed leaves.  'Silver Lace' Japanese Hornbeam' is on the of most stunning foliage shrubs I've ever seen.  The 1-1.5" long leaves that have very long, fine teeth along the margins.  In spring the foliage emerges green with strong silver overlay.  In our high heat here in North Carolina, the silver fades some.  'Silver Lace' is a shrubby growing Japanese Hornbeam and will remain fairly small (maybe 8-12' in time but very slowly).  Once plant reaches maturity, it will produce huge amounts of winged fruits in short racemes and adds even more ornamental value to an already stunning plant.  Truly gilding the lily!  'Silver Lace has been extremely difficult for us to propagate.  Grafting failed totally and cuttings on root in very low percentages.  We have worked for years just to get a small plant into the garden.  Only one of these beauties available this year!
