Chionanthus retusus var. serrulatus "Garden Treasures Select" EXCLUSIVE GARDEN TREASURES NEW RELEASE! RARE!!!

Chionanthus retusus var.serrulatus "Garden Treasures Select"  was grown from seed I collected in the mid 1980's from Scott Arboreetum and I selected out the best and have it planted in my garden here in North Carolina.  The tree is 20' x 20' feet (or larger) is a bit more open and airy than typical Chionanthus retusus.  The leaves (deciduous) are considerably small than the species and the bark is MUCH better and exfoliates in patches that reveal a mosaic of tans and grays.  It is covered with small white flowers in the spring and has excellent yellow fall color.  This clone is superior to other plants of serrulatus that I've seen and we are excited to finally be producing it after nearly 40 years from the time I planted the seed!  Very limited and never before released.
