Edgeworthia papyrifera 'Akebono' RARE!
Edgeworthia papyrifera 'Akebono' RARE!
Edgeworthia papyrifera 'Akebono' is a RARE slow growing, deciduous shrub with reddish orange flowers in late winter. Edgeworthia papyrifera 'Akebono' is RARE and seldom available and is one of the most sought after late winter flowering shrubs. Edgeworthia papyrifera 'Akebono' is very different than the more commonly seen yellow flowered forms of Edgeworthia chyrsantha - 'Akebono' has much smaller leaves, much slower growth rate, does not get as large and slowly produces a low, mounding plant and is probably best in a lightly shaded area in your garden. 'Akebono' (and all Edgeworthia) preforms best in well drained, moderately rich soil that does not get overly dry. Thanks to David Sabio for use of his photos and for allowing us to use his plant for our initial cuttings of this outstanding plant.
