Ficus carica 'Lattarula'  (Italian Honey Fig) is a deciduous shrub with large leaves and greenish yellow fruit.  Ficus carisa 'Lattarula'  is one of the more cold hardy figs but should be heavily mulched in cold area.  Ficus carica 'Lattarula' produces a medium-sized, super sweet, greenish yellow colored fruit in late summer to early fall.  In eastern NC we don't need to do anything special to protect from the cold, but in colder areas, protection is needed.  Ficus carica 'Lattarula' produces fruit on current seasons growth, so if needed, pruning can be done in late winter and you will still have fruits that season.  We've grown many cultivars of Ficus carica over the years and this is my favorite!
