Illicium floridanum "Extra Dwarf Variegated" RARE!!! GARDEN TREASURES EXCLUSIVE NEW RELEASE!!!

Illicium floridanum "Extra Dwarf Variegated" is a RARE evergreen shrub with green leaves broadly margined with pure white.  Illicium floridanum (still working on a name for it!  Feel free to offer suggestions) is a RARE, EXCLUSIVE NEW RELEASE FROM GARDEN TREASURES that was found initially as a branch mutation on the very dwarf Illicium 'Head's Compact' that had a few leaves with white stripes.  I propagated a couple of cuttings and over a period of several years, was finally able to propagate a stable white margined form.  HANDS DOWN this is the BEST variegated Illicium I've EVER seen!  Sadly it is rather difficult to propagate and due to its very slow growth rate, very few cuttings are available per year so quantities will always be extremely limited.  With luck, we can produce 5-10 per year.  Not only is it the best variegated Illicium I've ever seen, its also about the slowest ('Swamp Hobbit' might be slower)  The plant in the photo is about 10 years old and is 2' tall.  Good news it, it will likely never outgrow the spot you give it in your garden!  Illicium "Extra Dwarf Variegated"  isn't a heavy blooming plant, but does produce the same reddish, star shaped flowers as the species.  Illicium "Extra Dwarf Variegated" is best used in an area where it will not be overgrown by its neighbors - it would make a stunning addition to a dwarf conifer garden or a specimen plant wherever you need a very slow growing, evergreen shrub. Illicium "Extra Dwarf Variegated" is one of the most asked about plants in our entrance planting and certainly one of the very best variegated evergreen shrubs I've ever seen.  Don't hesitate buying one if you are interested.  Extremely limited supply and it will be at least a year or 2 before we have a small number available again!
