Illicium simonsii

Illicium simonsii is a rare, evergreen, large shrub with yellow starfish shaped flowers.  Illicium simonsii  is rarely seen in cultivation but is very ornamental.  Illicium simonsii is fairly fast growing and makes a large, christmas tree shaped shrub that is covered with soft yellow flowers in spring.  Illicium simonsii can be used as a dense hedge to screen out your neighbors (if that is necessary) or as a specimen anywhere a large, evergreen shrub is needed.  Illicium simonsii has been totally hardy here in the Raleigh, NC area but we don't know its full hardiness range but guessing zones 7-9.  Vert limited supply.
