Juniperus horizontalis 'Copper Harbor' is a very low growing conifer with golden summer foliage and copper colored foliage in the winter. Juniperus horizontalis 'Copper Harbor' is a wonderful golden (in the summer) colored ground cover for full sun. and is a mutation from Juniperus horizontalis 'Bar Harbor'. We use it is a large, cobalt blue container with other plants and it is stunning cascading out of the pot. Juniperus horizontalis 'Copper Harbor' is equally as beautiful in the winter when it transitions from gold to a rich copper/rust/brown. Yes, it sounds odd, but it is truly a beautiful plant! Juniperus horizontalis 'Copper Harbor' is best planted in a full sun site, in well drained soil, where it will make a solid, ground hugging, mat. It might be fun to do a mixed planting with 'Copper Harbor' and 'Bar Harbor' (keep in mind that 'Bar Harbor will spread faster than 'Copper Harbor' to create a cool yellow (copper) and blue ground cover. Juniperus horizontalis 'Copper Harbor' will flow like water over a retaining wall and is great mixed with arid succulents and cactus.
