Machilis thunbergii 'Fuji-nishiki is an absolutely STUNNING evergreen tree in the laurel family (closely related to Avocado). 'Fuji-nishiki is incredible rare and has been difficult for us to propagate and we finally have a very small number we managed to graft. The is absolutelly a collector plant - we don't know its hardiness outside, but likely similar to the species The beautiful variegation is strongest on the spring new growth and it a hot climate, the variegation becomes pale green and dark green. I suspect that in the PNW it would retain this amazing spring coloration year round. We don't know how big this will get in time - it is slower than the species, but could still become a large shrub or small tree in time. Since we haven't had the nerve to plant our only stock plant outside yet, we don't know what the best conditions for it will be. Our greenhouses are 50% shade and we don't let them freeze in the winter (close, but not freezing). This is one of our most prized plants in our collection! Only 3 available. Please, if you don't feel that you can provide proper growing conditions for this extremely rare plant, don't buy it. Thanks.
