Rhododendron x pulchrum "Matsuda Gold"

Rhododendron x pulchrum "Matsuda Gold" is a low growing evergreen shrub with bright lavender purple flowers in the spring with yellowing green leaves flecked with yellow. Rhododendron x pulchrum "Matsuda Gold" doesn't seem to have a cultivar name but is referred to as "Matsuda Gold". Regardless on name status, Rhododendron x pulchrum "Matsuda Gold" makes a dazzling display in the early spring garden when the variegated leaves are at their brightest (cold fades into the season) and the plant is covered with large, lavender purple flowers. A gaudy display for sure, but sure to bring a smile to your face. Rhododendron x pulchrum "Matsuda Gold" can be used as a single specimen but best planted in small grouping.
