Salix 'Swizzlestick'

Salix 'Swizzlestick' is a small decidious tree with slightly contorted leaves and twisting branches.  Salix 'Swizzlestick' is a wonderful, small tree with gracefully twisting branches that does not become a giant tree like Salix matsudana 'Tortuosa'.  In 10 years, our plant of 'Swizzlestick' is about 20' tall and 10 feet wide - much more upright than spreading.  Salix 'Swizzlestick' has golden colored bark on newer growth that is at its brightest in the winter and the plant can be cut back hard in late winter to keep it as a shrubby plant with stunning winter colored bark.  Branches of 'Swizzlestick' are great in floral arrangements as well.  As with all willows, Salix 'Swizzlestick' is happy in a wet area but performs well in average garden soil too.
