Tamarix ramosissima 'Rubra'

Tamarix ramosissima 'Rubra' is a deciduous shrub with graceful branches with almost coniferesque looking foriage that is sage gray green.  Flowers are small, pink and produced in feathery bunches.  Very tolerant of salt.  In some parts of the country it is considered invasive.  Doesn't appear to have that ability here in the SE part of the country.  I've seen it overtaking river banks in desert regions of the country.  Tamarix provides a very open, airy structure to the garden unlike anything else I can think of.  Tamarix thrives in average to dry soil conditions.
