Taxoidum "little Leaf" is a very strange and interesting "Bald Cypress". I received this years ago from a friend in the Netherlands that has been collecting Metasequoia for years and found this oddity in a large planting of Metasequoia seedlings. It has tiny leaves and very tufted growth habit - very open and other worldly nearly. My friend grew this odd seedling for a few years and kept trying to graft in onto Metasequoia and failing. For some reason he decided to try grafting it onto Taxodium - and it worked! I have to question what this plant is??? A bizarre mutant Metasequoia or a bizarre mutant Taxodium that was growing in a large group of Metasequoia (I find this to be highly unlikely). Best guess is that is is a naturally occurring hybrid between the two Genera and needs someone to go some genetic testing to confirm my suspicions. RARE, BIZARRE and certainly a "what in the World is that weird looking tree?". Fast growing, extremely open habit and super tiny leaves (it will not shade your garden in the least!) on a small tree. Not sure ultimate size but at least 15'
